Meet the Makers
We try to keep our business local as much as we can. From 1977 to 2005, we did everything from our original Manhattan space. And in 2005, we took our first off-site warehouse, cutting, and shipping space.
Today, we are proud that 75% of our products are completely sewn in the New York and Philadelphia area and 95% of our laces are knitted in the Northeast and dyed on the East Coast.
We take great care in every step of the process - from lace knitting to seam stitching. And if you wondered why our lace is so soft and comfortable that you maybe even forgot you put on underwear, part of the reason is because of how we give our lace time to breathe. Our laces are “relaxed” by unrolling them and letting them lay for 24 hours before any cutting takes place. This resting period removes tension which causes the fabric to shrink back after cutting. (It's also incredibly meditative to see.)
We are excited to share a little behind-the-scenes look and introduce you to some of the makers behind your Hanky Panky favorites (and share their favorites with you)!
